Question regarding soundbars connected to a pc

I'm thinking about buying a Sony HT-A7000 + Sony SA-SW5 + Sony SA-RS3S.
And I just wanted to know whether the setup I envision should work.

I wanted to connect the Sony HT-A7000 to the HDMI output of either my NVIDIA RTX 4080 or my Intel A380 for the audio.
My monitors are connected via DisplayPort.

Should this work or would I be required to use the HDMI output of the soundbar to get video&audio?
(I suspect this should work, but since I haven't used a soundbar and usually use a headset at my pc I wanted to be sure. )

What setup/connections did you end up using?

I connected the soundbar to my Intel card and passed it through to the second HDMI on one of my monitors.
The passing through is only needed during setup and when you want to configure the soundbar.
So I still use the DP connections for viewing and only switch one monitor to the HDMI input in case I need to change setup (run speaker adjustments,..) of the soundbar.

Ps.: haven't tested whether I could also use my onboard AMD HDMI connector, but I expect that would also work. (I usually only connect stuff to it to test VCE stuff, which is normally so underwhelming that usuallynothing is connected to it)

For me biggest question mark is audio synchronization with video - having so many asynchronous sources (multiplied by driver issues) may lead to this problem and if your soundbar/AV receiver is unable to propose latency compensation (can be difficult if not impossible if video advance audio) then you end with very annoying setup (or in other words - it would be easier if you can provide audio and video data at same physical source).
