New Features
Frame accurate edit cuts, without recompresssing the entire file, has now been introduced and tested on H264/H265/MEPG2
- Note this only works on video files with closed GOPS (Group Of Pictures).
- If the video file has non-closed GOPS the edit point may not be frame accurate (depends on file format)
NTSC/PAL progressive and interlaced video (with aspect ratios of 4/3 and 16/9) has now been tested and confirmed working
A user can now select 4/3 or 16/9 (widescreen) menus for their DVD's
- A DVD can support a mix of 4/3 and 16/9 videos but a DVD menu page can only be 4/3 or 16/9 - as per the DVD spec.
Source video can now be transcoded to H264/H265 instead of being stored in the original video format to save disk space
- Easier for DLNA players like Serviio
- All GOPS are closed, so frame accurate editing is possible
- Transcoding source video takes considerably more time than copying the source video files
- Note: It is better to store in the original video format as there is no quality loss
Video file must now conform to PAL and NTSC width and height
- βeta 4.0, planned Dec 2023, will relax this and resize source video to fit on DVD
