MKV Cutter in Windows 7 not marking the edits

I've used MKV Cutter for a long time. But I must be rusty.

I load video, MKV cutter doesn it's analysis and then displays.

I go to the start of clip mark that,
go to end of clip mark clip end...


but at that point I don't see any indication of the clip being marked.
The I clip made had the start, and the stop point , but then goes on to begin at the beginning
of the original video some 50 minutes before.

I must be missing a step.... MKV cutter has a lot of steps but cuts on the frame.

One problem was a setting outside of MKV Cutter. Pot Player is somehow set to repeat and is a separate dilemma.
Then I played the clip in VLC and all ok. But the second clip I did Toolnix.

I still don't see the error I made in the original post in MKV Cutter

Only with this video or with other videos too?

Thanks for answering. I'll try it with something else. Frankly I didn't think of that.

But I just went to Toolnix for this brief clip and no problem.

What I called a looping problem was a player issue:
loading the next thing a player had on it's playlist.
