Hi all,

Got a weird one here.

I am running a Panasonic DMR-EZ47V through HDMI to convert VHS tapes to digital. Everything was going smoothly until I tried to convert a few NTSC tapes, which just seemed to have gone bad. Switching back to PAL, since the failed NTSC tapes, every other tape I now play has very distorted audio, almost like the sound is turned up too loud.

After various tests, this issue is specific to VHS to HDMI audio output. If I use a Scart Lead etc... the audio from the VHS is fine. Alternatively, if I play a DVD through HDMI, again the audio is perfect. So both the VHS section, and HDMI section both still function as they should, but both will now not function together. It is as if whatever component that converts VHS audio to HDMI output as broken, but I cannot figure out what that component would be, or how to fix it.

I have reset to factory settings, changed the VHS and HDMI settings, but the audio distortion just remains the same.

Anyone got any idea what is happening, and is there a fix, or is Scart/RCA now my new friend?

Thanks ahead of time.
