I have a four bay Synology NAS that needs UPS protection. For the life of me I cannot make sense of Amazon et-al listings. All I need is a UPS that says 'hey-ho power failure' and COMMUNICATES that to the NAS allowing it to shut down - 2 minutes runtime maximum I estimate.

How do I know from an advert if a UPS has a USB data connection, is the issue?

The USB/Serial ports allow you to connect your UPS system to a computer and access additional power management features using our PowerPanel Business software.

    Hi Jack,
    Fancy meeting you here.

If only it were that easy. Many ads do not show detailed images of the back-panel; you wonder what they are hiding..
    For example
UK plug outlets seem a rarity too.

    Thanks for the recommendations.

  4. I help in all forums.

I believe that Data Ports are standard on all above average quality UPS.

With respect to plugs, most hardware can accommodate both 50 hertz (UK) and 60 hertz (US). Most come with an interchangeable plug so that the device will work any and everywhere.
