  1. Hi, when you open the flip out screen on my HC-V770, it is stuck/flipped upside down as if you had rotated the screen forward facing. The screen also does not turn off any longer when you close it, (which in turn would turn off the camera if not recording). This just recently started happening and I can't figure out why. Any thoughts?

Hi Mike! Did you ever find out what the issue was with your Panasonic screen not rotating? I have the same issue happening with my camera and can't find answers anywhere. Thank you!

It has to be a contact switch or sensor that senses the position of the screen, it would have to be taken apart and cleaned. If you are lucky you can try to open just the screen shell and see if you can spray some Deoxit inside the hinge area, otherwise a full disassembly is required.

They sell the flex cable but not sure if it fixes the rotation issue:

    Edit:
Looking at the service manual I see a magnetic sensor on the schematic, this leads me to believe that the screen uses a magnetic sensor to detect its position on the hinge and reports that position via a wire in the flex cable to the system control chip in the camera body, So the flex cable in the above ebay listing should fix the issue if you know how to do it yourself.

    The service manual is attached:
