SSD is ok for short term storage (2-3 years)
use 3 2 1 rule
https://www.nakivo.com/blog/3-2-1-backup-rule-efficient-data-protection-strategy/
verify then upgrade every 5 years -
How large are the files?
SSD drives are a lot more expensive than HDD but more reliable.
I use several WD My Passport 5TB it is 2.5" portable drive and affordable.
Some friends prefer the larger 3.5" drive like 18TB but I prefer to have several 5TB drives than one drive, just in case it fails.
If you value your media, then you are advised to back up the drive by buying a similar drive.
In the end, it is all a question of how much you are willing to pay. -
Take the time to read this in the link provided to decide your options. https://www.partitionwizard.com/clone-disk/is-ssd-good-for-long-term-storage.html
