  1. hi everyone i need to know if this is possible

i bought a new 4k smart tv it has 2 hdmi ports and 3 usb ports and also has with freeview i tuned in the freeview in the tv which only uses the aerial port at the back of the tv.
and what i want to do if it can be done can i watch a freeview channel and record a program through my dvd recorder my dvd recorder has 1 hdmi port and 1 scart port 1 rca ports and 1 s-video port. if i huck up a hdmi cable from the dvd recorder to the tv i dont think that would record the freeview channels cos the tv has freeview built in on a separate channel it says live tv on the source page. were it also lists the 2 hdmi ports what the tv has if any thing is connected with a hdmi cable you see it there. so my question is how can that be done if the freeview is on the live tv bit on the tv the freeviewchannels is not tuned into a hdmi channel so how can i record the freeview channels off the tv. through my dvd recorder how can that be done. i know on old tvs that have a scart port at the back you are able to huck a scart from that to a dvd recorder and you are able to record the freeview channels through a dvd recorder. but theses new tvs the smart tvs how do you record the freeview channels through a dvd recorder onto a blank dvd disc how can it be done is it possible.

My guess is that this is not possible.

In the past, one would have a unit to receive the freeview, transmit that to a dvd recorder BEFORE it appears on your tv. If your tv takes the signal direct it has no means to export it to a recording device.

My own antiquarated setup receives freeview (and others) from the dish/aerial, relays that in to a dvd-recorder (freeview signals are still, typically, mpeg2) and can be recorded in real time as that signal hits your tv.

Today, tvs have their own freeview tuners. There is no function to export that back to a dvd-recorder (the signal may even be encrypted should you wish to try)

Re the above. One might be able to find a tuner/recorder just like the $ky boxes do for their services. And whilst the service is FTA at the point of receiving it will, inevitably, be encypted at the point of delivery. Your tv is not affected by the encryption but anything else via HDMI most certainly is.
