Just a quick question. I noticed in mediainfo that the audio and subtitle tracks are given the name 'English' in the final muxed mkv file. If I didn't want that (but only to set the language as English) which part in your scripts would I have to edit?

Easy to edit the mkv headers with mkvpropedit afterwards but it would be very convenient if I didn't have to.

STV would sometimes appear to download perfectly but half-way through a video the subtitles would just stop. This was especially prevalent in Taggart. The error was caused by a large gap of empty lines within the subtitle dialogue.

N_m3u8DL-RE and ffmpeg (used as a subtitle converter) cannot cope with blank lines.

There is an alternative subtitle editor library listed in the README to download and install using pip. It is only used with STV. If you do not download from STV, or have no-need for STV subtitles, ignore the suggestion. Otherwise see the README for installation details. BEWARE: do not just attempt a pip install subby - you'll get the wrong library!

C4 would occasionally fail to mux. Green Wing S01E03 for example. It appears, rarely, a subtitle would not be available but something would download anyway and at muxing the 'something' gummed up the works. C4 Subtitles are now downloaded and checked for integrity before muxing.

BBC was dumping a json file that had been used in development. The dumping has been stopped.

Just a heads up i've ran into an error downloading the channel 4 documentary "Trump: Should we be scared". It looks like the error occured when downloading the subtitltes which weren't available for the video and then it leads into an N_m3u8DL-RE error, snippet of the output below:

Ignore what i said about the subtitltes, i've noticed they look to have downloaded in the output but it fails just after when trying to merge, reverted to the previous version and the same video downloaded fine so if you need a temp fix reverting may do the trick, hopefully Angela can assist in confirming where this may have arisen from

Thanks for raising the issue - the update to C4 was buggy. The code was a little too eager at removing the downloaded subtitles, even before they had been merged with the audio and video! I'm not sure how this didn't cause an error testing?

Correct by moving two lines of code in UK-FTA/uk-ft/c4-dl/C4.py

        os.remove(f)

I have not looked at ITV Premium and have no intention of doing so. Pay sites are beyond the remit of this forum, as you jolly well know, and the UK-FTA thread would be closed if were to.

For Windows 11 users: Just checking UK-FTA on a virtual Windows install and found Terminal saying this:

It works very well - probably faster than Terminal. It doesn't replace Terminal but sits alongside.

A_n_g_e_l_a - I have been using and enjoying this for a while now. Thank you! I have it up and running no issues on one desktop, now I installed on a new desktop, same version of python, same everything. I however have an issue with MY5. I can DL from all other sites within UK-FTA but MY5. "Update MY5" was done, but I think this is something with my local machine I just cannot figure out. That said. The keys and .mpd and everything that is spit out by UK-FTA I can copy/paste and use my own string to download with N_m3u8DL-RE it works. So that is why I am confused and writing this now. I realize it must be a setting or directory I have out of whack, I just cannot figure it out. Or maybe where in the MY5 code it calls something I may have out of place. I looked, just cannot for the life of me figure it out.

As always, wonderful progam, it's made my life so much easier.
I've noticed that BBC doesn't seem to add the episode numbers correctly they all show up as S0* S01 (with the first S being the correct season).
E.G. Amazing_Hotels._Life_Beyond_the_Lobby._S06__S01_Ar gos_in_Cappadocia
Which is Season 6 Episode 2
Amazing_Hotels._Life_Beyond_the_Lobby._S06__S01_Da tai_Langkawi_Malaysia
Which is Season 6 Episode 5

That turns out to be one grotty error! The full title string looks like this example: 'Amazing Hotel : Life Beyond the Lobby: Series 1 - Marina Bay Sands Singapore' .

I split the title at the : to get the series name Amazing hotels. I then usually split the rest on the - to find two parts 'series' and 'episode-name' And all that works fine. Until, that is, the BBC put an extra colon in the title - so my first split produces three parts instead of two. And 'Life beyond the Lobby' is assigned to series.
That series name gets picked up later - and being over 10 chars long is assumed to be a one-off special and is replaced by 'series 001' to signify special.

All that is down to a single extra colon in the title!

Hopefully a correction will follow ...

Absolutely: I looked very hard when devising this approach; for some series - with an episode name as well as a number - the episode number only becomes available during the download, as a side effect of get_iplayer. But for things like Amazing Hotels - which one you look at first makes no real difference, it is just our OCD which makes it annoying.

In one of the older iterations of UK-FTA I included the ability to add a 'sequence number' to the listing in the order the BBC presented the videos - hoping that would work in place of a series number. It sort of worked but eventually I never used it, and assumed no-one else would bother either. It got left out on the change to a GUI style. It wasn't accurate enough to bring back as it relied on listings being ordered correctly.

Nightsleeper produces Nighsleeper_S01E01 etc as indeed it should. I think the BBC doesn't have any fixed style of video naming and things get put online as whim takes someone.

When I actually came to do it yesterday I’ve seen they came be downloaded from my5. I’ve tried the downloaded from Angela but I am not computer literate and really struggling. I seem to be having problems with downloaded files from "AllHell3 Gui" called from UKFTA 16_1. I know this is a few versions behind, but I'm not aware anything has changed in this regard (my humblest apologies if this isn't the case!). Any advice would be gratefully received:

I've downloaded (free) files from discovery+ and the audio goes out of sync seemingly after an advert break (As an example, try the new series of Fifth Gear). I use VLC to play the file, and there isn't anything I can do to solve this. However, playing it via Plex onto my TV, I can pause & restart and the audio sometimes resyncs correctly.

Can this be corrected during download? I tend to select video at 720p with the lowest bitrate for this kind of programme, but are there any other options I can apply? Failing that, is there a way to post-process the file once downloaded?
