Hi.
I've started last week on digitizing my VHS tapes. Already transfered a BASF tape and I'm very satisfied with it. But the problem came when I've put a recorded tape from tv that I've bought from a collector and it started a strange noise in the background, like there was a helicopter around. I've also tested a Fuji tape of a Cyndi Lauper show and there was that sound again. Note that this sound didn't appear on my first tests, but after I've put that recorded tv tape, it started. That Cyndi Lauper tape didn't have that sound, but now it shows constantly.
How do I fix it? My VCR is a LG gc981B. I'm using a ADCV 110 Canopus.
Problem 2:
My Adobe Premiere PRO 2023 isn't showing the capture preview. Only the sound. When recorded, it shows the screen on Premiere. So what's happening?
Thanks a lot!

Try unplugging the vcr for a while and then use a tape that has good sound.

Well, after you said that, I unplugged it, check the bottom of the VCR and it was a bit hot, as there was a Samsung DVD Recorder (used as a PAL-M > NTSC transcoder) under the VCR. I separated them now, took a Beatles Anthology tape 6, in a very mint quality (the tape was shinning as a newly brought from the store back in the release date). Thanks for that!
Do you think if the VCR gets hotter again, that helicopter sound will come back? If yes, so how can I digitize my VHS tapes on this situation? Also, how can I digitize old tapes that were recorded from TV, others that were not stored well? I bought the capture cards just to digitize home recorded tapes from my family and from people of my town that recorded school events, shows, night proms etc..
EDIT:
After that, I put another tape and within a few minutes that noise started again. Then, I've put that Beatles tape again, that sound only lasted half a second and disappeared. I'm worrying on how to get these things solved..Last edited by tmangia; 3rd Oct 2023 at 23:35.

Best to keep both machines apart since the noise seems to be related to the heat.

Something is touching the video drum, stop damaging the VCR and tapes, find a skilled person to open it and see what's going on.

It's best to have the 2 machines separated or at least some rubber sheet between them, can lead to ground issues otherwise. As far as the noise i dont know

Well, I'm playing some VHS taped by a company, made in the 90s, and it works fine. I'm getting issues only by playing those tapes recorded from TV and that Cyndi Lauper promo tape. Some people say that it's because I'm using a HiFi 7 head VCR and those were recorded by old machines.

No, that's incorrect.

Try manually tracking the tapes that give you the sound issue.

Yes, google search.

I find a lot of manuals I need on:

When/if you find your manual, you can download the PDF; don't use the "add to library" option, click on the "Download PDF" link. -
Do you have a video of the inside of the vcr with that noisy sound ? Would be good to know where it's coming from first.
My guess is a problem with the tension of that particular tape (since you don't have problems with others)*** DIGITIZING VHS / ANALOG VIDEOS SINCE 2001**** GEAR: JVC HR-S7700MS, TOSHIBA V733EF AND MORE -
Well, I found that helicopter sound in 4 VHS tapes. Here's a sample of it

Do you have another vcr you can try the affected tapes with?

Do the other tapes with this sound also have that noise on the image?
