I am shooting on an older Panasonic Full HD camera producing MTS files. The MTS footage I can play directly on my PC and video is clear and crisp. Been using handbrake to convert video files to .mp4 with mixed results. Playing around with settings etc am getting some good results but initially all I want to do is emulate the same quality video as on the original MTS file. Then I can do some editing etc and will worry about compressing, resizing etc later. have read a lot of people recommending Shutter encoder but a lot of it way over my head. I did however convert an MTS file before without changing too many settings, simply used the rewrap setting to convert to Mp4 and the size of the file nearly the same and the results are stunning...well the same as the original MTS file but in an Mp4 container.
Is what I did correct? I mean use "rewrap" to essentially emulate the original MTS file (quality as high as possible)
What other sorts of things can I do with Shutterencoder?

There are tons of videos on youtube that will show you what can do with Shutter. Yes you did it correct by using rewrap
