  1. I followed PSSH's Guide for Freevine and what I already knew and relearned and I got Freevine set up on my Sister's computer. One big tip never underestimate the importance when you install python to make sure you check that box about putting Python in Windows PATH. I didn't do that and I had some difficulties getting Freevine running. Then I uninstalled Python and then downloaded and installed it again and this time I made sure I checked the box. Then I could pip install requirements. I then put a key and bob in the WVD folder. Then I ran Freevine to test things out and it created what was necessary to activate the CDM.

Now to get WSK-KEYS working and N_m3u8DL-RE working and then try to finish up with Devine. I did a lot of reading and thinking and I think my brain grew a little bit as my hair has retreated a bit and my forehead has expanded. Perhaps it is all this thinking causing it or maybe it has something about growing older.

    The thing is,
if you followed the "Video guide" complemented by the notes then you would not have to dealt with Python PATH
tick box exercise and trying to not to forget to tick that box to add it to the PATH........

When or if you forget next time, you just need to add the Python DIR to Windows PATH, same as MKV/VLC or/and CCExtractor ....

Looking at my ENV Path, py3.12 has:
#in User variables I have THREE DIRs:
    Code:
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Launcher\
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python312\Scripts\
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Programs\Python\Python312\
and in System variables I have TWO DIR's:
    Code:
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Python\Scripts\
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Python\Python312\Scripts\
that would have been a quick fix ....(you would have to obviously amend the full path for where you have Python Installed...)

WinGet does it all for you (providing you run it from "Administrator" prompt .......

Check out "Simonides of Ceos and the Method of Loci"

  3. I have gotten WSK-KEYS and N_m3u8DL-RE working. I used Google Chrome and the Developer Tools to get the m3u8, PSSH and licence for a TubiTV video. I put the PSSH and License into WSK-KEYS and got the keys. Then I organized the line of code for N_m3u8DL-RE. It worked out successfully and I have one video so far from TubiTV. It is a lot of digging around and thinking and organizing but it feels go to get some skills back. It will be terrific too if I can get Devine up and working.

PSSH: Thank you for your guides and all the help you are giving myself and others.

Thank you also to so many others in various threads that have helped myself and others.

I hope you get the Devine working soon :)

Just tried the TubiTV (Yes I know it's available already in stabbedbybrick SERVICES)...

    - Win 11 Pro
    - Up-to-date Firefox
    - WVG to get the Keys (works out of box, no need to change anything)
    - and of course N_m3u8DL-RE binary (exe) file in PATH
along with FFMpeg and MKVToolNix, YT-DLP and Bento4, Shaka-Packager.

    F12 in Firefox:
    Code:
    regexp:license|m3u8|srt
    Selected first manifest:

    Code:
    N_m3u8DL-RE `
    -mt `
    -M mp4 `
    --key bc15c23bb6a9474e82755bbe7f2e3dda:ea2c716141beb974a4dd633638efc648 `
    --save-name Willy.Wonka.The.Chocolate.Factory.1971.720p.TubiTV.WEB-DL.AAC.2.0.H.264 `
    "https://manifest.production-public.tubi.io/ac1234-da21-4dc2-33dc-acdc12345/abcd.m3u8?token=CI6............Ikp"
What I got stuck with is a SUB's.
No subs are offered to download in N_m3u8DL-RE ....

Is there any hack to get the SUBs included in the request?

If the subtitles are separate from the manifest, you'll need to download them separately and use --mux-import to include them in the mux.

  6. WVG is interesting and no doubt a great tool. However I want to continue to build my skills at digging for m3u8, PSSH and License and get it so ingrained that I can try to do something beyond TubiTV. I want to archive what I can from TubiTV while I can. It would be terrific if I can get Devine working and I have an incentive because I am missing the convenience of getting a number of videos such a season or whole series. I have much more to learn and one has to keep up ones skills or you have to learn it all again. I would like to learn how to get a few videos from the streaming service that our Satellite Receiver offers when the signal goes out and beyond that since they were acquired by a bigger Company they made everyone upgrade their receivers and the HD PVR Receivers no longer have component out and one can't record HDMI so that leave composite and I end up with a low quality blurry picture when I record via my Hauppauge HD PVR. Also there are trees on a neighbour's property bothering the signal so it doesn't take much wind for a tree top to sway and lets not even get into rain fade. So streaming is becoming more appealing for me and I suppose I am fortunate that about eighty percent of the TV shows and movies they make these days don't inspire me to bother with them. So streaming and DVD Box Sets are appealing more and more in our household.

When it comes to Devine it says Ariac2 is optional so it should function without it.

  7. Hi all, I tried to download this series on Pluto TV using Freevine but it gave me this error: "Downloading by episode URL not supported. Use standard method"
    I used this code: freevine.py get -e https://pluto.tv/us/on-demand/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/season/1/episode/5d9ccaf...d0348a9d998c79

I then tried to download the complete season using the code: freevine.py get -s https://pluto.tv/us/search/details/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/season/1

But I then got this other error code: URL did not match any supported service

Lastly, I then tried to download the complete series using the code: freevine.py get -c https://pluto.tv/us/on-demand/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/episode/5d9ccafe4cd0348a9d998c79

But then I got many lines of errors, as seen in the picture I attached.

Always a good idea to use the search function first to get the correct series URL.

    Code:
freevine.py search pluto "1000 ways to die"
will give you the URL https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/details

Then your commands will work just fine

    Episode 1
freevine.py get --episode "1000 Ways To Die S01E101 Life Will Kill You" https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/details

    Season 1
    freevine.py get --season S01 https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/details

    Complete Series
    freevine.py get --complete https://pluto.tv/en/on-demand/series/5d9ccaa74cd0348a9d9987ff/details

It results in a folder having a .TS file, a .srt file and a .mp4 mux file that says it is zero bytes for the mux file. This happened to me when I used Freevine to download "Mommie Dearest" as well. Perhaps I can re-encode the TS and get a .mp4 and add the subtitle in via Vidcoder. I remember I did a transcode and changed the container to .mp4 and it did not turn out well.

I am back and I changed the .yaml to .mkv and mkvmerge and I had a successful download. Colour me envious as you got it in a little over a minute to download and it takes me about a half hour. I suspect that if I downloaded that fast I probably would get whiplash and friction burns.

I really should at some point upgrade from my DSL and go for the Wireless Internet my ISP is offering. Currently I get "up to" 10 mbps with my DSL and that is as fast as the phone lines are capable of where I live. If I get the little dish installed I can get 50 mbps for a little lower price than I am paying now per month. But I keep thinking wireless is easier for someone to hack and I do online banking and such via the computer so that keeps me with wired DSL and I hardly ever turn on WIFI. Also I keep holding out for Fiber Optic but I suspect it is never going to happen.

  13. I ran across an issue with iView for a few videos. When it comes to Van der Valk S03E01 and S03E03 it is forcing descriptive audio instead of the usual audio. I look into the extra help for Freevine and tried to remedy the situation and it didn't work. It certainly isn't stabbedbybrick's or anyone's fault except my one. I would like to know what to write to get the regular audio. Here is a log an this resulted in a video with no audio:

Thank you in advance for any help with this matter. I watched the first two Van der Valk series and noticed this when I started to watch series 3. I used Freevine to get the entire three series so this may be an issue with other series one would download from ABC iView.

I have found how to get the video via N_m3u8DL-RE by using the .mpd revealed in the log above and kid:key and selecting the correct audio but if there is a way to do it via Freevine to get the correct audio I certainly would like to learn about that.

you can fix it by dropping the "alternate" audio and then selecting the best audio (of those that are remaining)
    Code:
    freevine.py get --select-video res=576 --drop-audio role="alternate" --select-audio for=best -e S03E01 https://iview.abc.net.au/show/van-der-valk

ElCap: Thank you for your post. If I was to download another complete series again for ABC iView if I was to to put that audio specifications in the line hopefully for these odd videos where alternate audio seems to be wanted to be forced perhaps that deals with that and the others that just have the one audio it would just hopefully go with the one audio available. These kind of odd videos makes one a bit trepadacious.

yeh, if the descriptive audio is labelled as alternative then that command will remove it, so you should get the correct audio every time

Thank you and perhaps I can adapt this for other streaming services with a different drop audio wording if I should run across this problem again. Now I should check through all the other series I downloaded from ABC iView as this may have happened before. I only noticed because I actually starting watching "Van der Valk". Some series I just archive to watch at some date in the future so I have something to look forward to video viewing wise.

Perhaps it is a VPN thing as CBS is very fussy. I have some GB left on my free Windscribe but only certain Cities are available with the free Windscribe. Thank you in advance for any help concerning this matter.

TUBI has been broken on Freevine for quite awhile now. If you can get Devine working it works via that last time I checked.

  22. Every once in awhile Freevine will stop working for me and then I reinstall it to bring it back at least that has worked for me. I was downloading a TV show from Pluto TV United States yesterday and it was doing fine up until the last three episodes. Well there was my DSL acting up occasionally so I had restart the downloads a few times as my Internet tends to go in and out sometimes.

When I say "stops working" it can get to the point that ignores the commands you input. Even "freevine.py get --help" will result in just "freevine 1.18" being what you get on the next line in response. So of course I get curious as to what causes such a thing.

  23. PM arrived for support on Linux,
and thous that are thinking of jumped the ship may find it useful as well:

    FreeVine Dependencies/Requirements are:
    - Python

    - MKVmerge
    - mp4decrypt
    - Shaka Packager
    - Hola Proxy (optional)
    - Windscribe Proxy (optional)
    - Valid Widevine CDM [wvd] (this is not included, so don't ask)

And you will find how to get the above installed in:

    I've found a glitch with a CH4 series: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/outrageous-homes

To cut a long story short and to not reproduce here all the lines of code it fails on, it appears to be:
"IndexError: A proxy client must be set in config file"

There is a back-end error as UK-FTA will not get it either. Use Noobs Starter pack in my sig. That gets it; albeit at SD resolution only
Noob Starter Pack. Just download every Widevine mpd! Not kidding!.

Thanks for confirming it's not just me Angela.

Devine doesn't work with it either. The 'old fashioned' method works fine though (ie. getting generic info from cURL to Python, etc.).

The Devine ALL4 service works fine:

  28. I was looking at Outrageous Homes last night as well. I can confirm that it did not work but does now. I was getting an error in Devine, something about not finding android endpoints. It's a freshly added show on All4. I think what happened is that the show was on the website so you could get it through browser, but it was not on their android API yet. Now it is. I think the All4 service code was supposed to handle this where browser exists, but android does not. But in this particular case, it didn't handle it and errored out.

Are you using the most up-to-date version of the service? Because it should find episodes through the source code if both android and web endpoints fail.

Either way, seems to be working now. I know that ALL4 are sometimes uneven when it comes to publishing, so I guess that's what happened here.

  30. Yeah, I have all your services up to date. It works now so I think we can just chalk this up to All4 weirdness that may occur when a show first appears on it. If I see this happen again, I'll make a note of the specific error and where it occurs.
