I was getting those too... I thought that my Channel 4 and 5 had blacklisted my DNS. I think that is the case. When I tried VPN it actually seemed to fix that issue. I think its possible CH5 and ALL4 have now blocked dns4me if thats what you're using? I tried multiple DNS servers on dns4me and still the same error. Only VPN resolved it.

Works for me with SmartDNSProxy and Getflix (they're basically sister companies). ControlD started downloading ok but then failed which isn't usual for ControlD, they don't really have the bandwidth for downloading just the handshake part is good for getting keys and MPD URLs and things like that...

Yeah I try to avoid VPN whenever possible, SmartDNSProxy does provide a free VPN which can be handy as part of the subscription.

TBH SmartDNSproxy's VPN is the only one I have at this point, I will try controlD, sometimes changing which servers it uses for sites such as BBC enables the download to work, else I can just wait for the scene release, was more a test than anything hoping it was in 4k!

Getting an error with any All4 download at the moment. Could my IP be banned maybe ? Not that I've grabbed much recently from them to cause that.

Max retries would indicate that there's some sort of rate limiting going on rather than an IP ban. But since @SE14man had the same issues that could be solved with a VPN, it looks like whatever DNS/VPN/proxy provider you're using is the actual problem. Try changing server of your provider, or try a free Windscribe account and see if it works. If you're still having issues, then something else is going on.

As for 4k, I haven't added that to the public repo.

Perhaps you could leave the code in the public repo to download, but leave the certificate for the user to source from outside, like the CDM?

And I've added a new option to read commands from a text file. This is useful if you want to batch download movies or from multiple services.

I've tested this a fair bit over the last couple of days. Seems to work pretty well. Will be a nice add to my GUI if you do push it to a main release.

I thought I would take a chance and ask if anyone has lip sync issues with some videos downloaded from Pluto TV? Gunsmoke season 15 episode 6 Vengeance Part 2" for example and the movie "The Fugitive". I watched "The Fugitive" despite the lip sync issues but it lessened the enjoyment considerably.

I know it is not freevine's fault and there may not be an easy remedy. From what I read on the Internet other paid for streaming download programs users ran across lip sync issues with Pluto TV and it had something to do with "bumpers" according to some people. I tried fixing the lip sync issue and nothing worked.

I have wrote here about it before but it was a slow time and perhaps it got lost in the shuffle. So even if there is no remedy it would at least be nice to know if anyone else ran across the lip sync issue. I get quite hesitant to download from Pluto TV because of the lip sync issue.

But regardless thank you stabbedbybrick for this terrific program. I haven't upgraded to the newest version yet and I am happy with 1.06 but I will probably upgrade in a few weeks.

It's a reasonably beefy core i7 with 24 GB RAM, so I'd be surprised if I ever got any issues with the merge/muxing process after the download process. Maybe that's having an effect on your end, although one would think it would happen with other services too.

I do get audio/video out of sync issues - with various OTA TV and streaming services - on my tv/home theatre set up quite often. Fortunately the audio remote (and Emby client I use for playback) have the ability change the audio feed to a large degree, so I can manually fix even the most horrible sync issues easily and continue to watch ok.

Thank you for checking those videos out. It is great they turned out for you. With me the time sync happens for the most part when the audio and video time stamps don't match as revealed in the freevine logs. I am curious about your logs for these two videos. I will be back with some examples of what I mean.

Some good news; I downloaded "The Fugitive" movie again and this time no lip sync issues. The timestamps for audio and various qualities of video match up according to the log.

Notice the difference between the audio time and the 480p 1220 kbs video time. Now for this particular video when I selected 240p perfect audio sync but the 240p doesn't match up with the audio length in all cases of lip sync problem videos as I have checked other videos and sometimes no video quality will match up with the audio length.

Regardless I am glad that billybanana took the time to check things out and it is terrific that I have now got a video of "The Fugitive" with audio in sync with the video so I will replace my other file with this new one.

The STV issue has been fixed in the main branch.

I've also fixed Channel4 so that if it doesn't find 1080p on the android API, it switches to the web endpoint automatically. So there's no longer any need to change the client manually in the yaml file.

And I've added a new option to read commands from a text file. This is useful if you want to batch download movies or from multiple services.

Create a text file and name it whatever. Put each command on its own line:

get --movie https://www.example.com
get --episode S01E01 --select-video res=720 https://www.example2.com
get --season S01 https://www.example3.com

And then use the "file" command:

freevine.py file "path/to/file.txt"

I suspect there will be some issues with these so I don't want to commit to a new full release. Feel free to test them out and report any bugs.

From nearly the start of using this program I have had a word pad document where I have made templates of command lines and just dropped in new urls and a lot of the time when it comes to movies I just make a list and just copy and paste into Freevine and it downloads it. That way I can be doing something else on the computer and let Freevine do its job. Or I will load it up with what I want to get and go to bed and check in the morning to see what it has got. Things can happen though such as my internet going out or a failed download for some other reason such as my internet speed drops too low or whatever else. Here is an example:

I have done the same thing with YT-DLP.

Also a trick I am using when it comes to movies is I go to "rename folder" highlight the name and copy it then go in the folder go to rename and copy and paste the name of the folder on that file and the folder doesn't have the dashes and dots and I find it saves me time instead of manually typing all that.

When downloading the above show the subtitles (which are available online when streaming) do not download as well.
From checking out what's going on using Chrome Developer Tools I believe they're embedded in the downloaded .ts file and can be extracted using [ss]vegeta's method from here:

I have used it in some of my own download scripts (when necessary) and it works like a charm, so mabye you could try to add it for pluto when necessary. Or let it be a switch one can turn on when starting a download from the command line, if setting up the script to figure out when to use this and when not to is too complicated.

I finally set up a Proton Free VPN account and had success with a mini series from Crackle. I tried at Roku United States "In Heat Of The Night Grow Old With Me" TV movie and it says on the webpage "free with ads" and the same goes for "The Rockford Files". So freevine says:

iamghost: Thank you for your response. I have upgraded to the latest version of Freevine. Unfortunately Roku U.S. doesn't accept the Proton VPN server I used. Maybe that particular TV movie of "In The Heat Of The Night" will eventually show up on TubiTV and I will try to get it then. Perhaps I will also sign up for the free version of Windscribe and use that with Roku U.S. even if there is a limit on how much you can download per month.

In order to get ad-free streams on Pluto, you have to cut up and reassemble a Frankenstein URL. For cases where only m3u8 is available, that means feeding N_m3u8DL-RE the playlist stream directly rather than the master file, which is where the subtitles are.

I'm assuming it's a pretty easy fix to get the subtitles for these cases, but it looks like your show has been removed so I can't check. If you can find any other examples, I can take a look.
