Doesn't really help but I tested some old episodes and see the same thing as you, played in the browser no description, download and only 1 audio stream and it has description...

  8. Yes, I'm aware of the iPlayer issue with descriptive audio for some titles. In short, the problem is that they store several variants in different places, and sometimes it picks the version for descriptive audio.

I have some stuff I need to fix before I get to it, but it's on the list.

New 'temporary' v1.0.6 (with channel4 folder updates) works great. We're back in business with android API higher bitrate 1080p's, and also we have the subs back. Super job stabby.

The README on Github has steps for installation and usage. Some basic technical skill is required, like knowing what Python is and the ability to use command line.

If it's the command line usage that scares you, @billybanana has created a graphical interface for it: https://github.com/billybanana80/FreevineGUI

  13. This is a terrific program. Be wary of some downloads from PlutoTV America. You will run across some episodes of TV Shows or movies with lip sync issues. This is not the fault of Freevine. I typically go for 480 worst quality in my downloads of TV shows from Pluto TV America and most turn out just fine. Here is something I noticed in one that ended up with more video time than audio time. 240p quality seems to match up with the audio; the higher the quality the more video and audio difference in time. I downloaded the 240p version and it matches up close enough that the lip sync is fine. I just thought I would mention this as there will be the odd disappointment when reviewing what one downloads. But someday I intend on buying Gunsmoke The Complete Series on DVD but even there odds are with that many episodes you are going to have a disc with flaws. Here is the log file showing video specs:

  17. Hey, I am getting a
    Code:
    429 Too Many Requests
when I am trying to downloading using login with Channel4, using my login and the provided one, separately is giving me the same error, using a VPN the error goes for a time, but then it comes back after, say 4-5 downloads. Do you have any fix for this, or is it solely a, wait it out game?

    Hey!

Try signing up with SmartDNSProxy. Use DNS instead. Since using them ive had none of these errors.

Damn, you literally just made me work out what was going on! I am running ControlD (DNS from Windscribe) and I just set Channel 4 to be bypassed through the admin and all is working now Thank you!

I use both ControlD and SmartDNSProxy (as well as Getflix which is a sister company to SmartDNSProxy) and I find ControlD is very poor for the actual downloading part due to the speeds involved, in fact if I try to download something like "A Place In The Sun" episodes they usually fail, but with SmartDNSProxy they download at essentially my full speed (1Gbit fiber so 110mb/s or so).

ControlD's strength is you can set custom routes for new sites and it tends to be pretty reliable to give you the handshake you want when visiting different sites but if I'm doing any downloading I switch to SmartDNSproxy (I have batch files on my desktop to easily switch between DNS providers).

  21. When it comes to the lip sync issues with Pluto TV; I did a Google search and users of Streamlink and DVD Fab have made note of the issue. Reading about the issue when it comes to Steamlink there was mention of "bumpers" as being the cause. I do remember before using Freevine that I downloaded an episode from Pluto TV probably with Video Download Helper or YT-DLP and I got the whole episode with commercials. There was no issue with audio sync on the whole file but when I dropped the file into VideoReDo and removed the commercials I had terrible audio sync issues.

Perhaps there is a way to get the audio back in sync with the downloaded file but other than selecting 240p for audio and downloading again; I don't see a solution on the downloading side. I have VideoReDo; I have never mastered lip sync issues but I looks like I better get educated. Avidemux a free tool may be able to get the audio in sync for those who don't have VideoReDo. Any advice is appreciated and thank you in advance. It looks like a 1 minute and five second difference in the audio length in that example above between 480p worst and the audio file. I guess I will do some experimenting with VideoReDo and see if I can find a remedy. If there is something I can do to via Freeviine beyond selecting 240p resolution please guide me and thank you in advance.

Update: I did an audio shift of 65000 with Avidemux it fixed the audio sync toward the end of the video but not all the way through.

  22. I thought I had a solution with quickstream via VideoRedo but it wouldn't process the .mp4 because of a "atom" issue. I am thinking that maybe what I will do is download a problem video again but this time as a .mkv and then drop the file into MkvToolNix which has tools for timestamp issues and if that program fixes it I could remux to a .mp4

I did try with making a folder for FFMPEG and putting the problem video in there and attempting a fix that way but I didn't get the command line directions correct or when I did get some result it didn't fix the problem.

Any advice is appreciated and maybe I am the only that has run across this issue.

I tried with with MkvToolNix and it didn't fix it. I will put the problem files in a separate folder and give up on this issue.

  23. A note about the Taggart Specials the way to download them is like this:

    freevine.py -sv res=432:for=worst -e E01 https://player.stv.tv/summary/30-years-of-taggart

I tried several other ways and that is the only way that worked for me. I have really got to like the show.

  24. Updates have been slow (December is a busy month), but I’ve uploaded a dev branch to the github repository for anyone who wants to test out new features before they’re added to the main app. It’s a developer branch that’ll be used for trying out features and updates without messing with the main one. Just click where it says "main" and select "dev", or go here, then get it as normal. It’s considered unstable, so don’t use it to fully replace the main one.

Some notable new features and updates:

    Login credentials and user profiles:

Since Channel4 now requires login to access the higher quality streams, I’ve added a feature to create a user profile with your login credentials:
    Code:
freevine.py profile --username "USERNAME" --password "PASSWORD" --service "All4"
By setting a user profile, a profile.yaml will be created inside the service folder that will hold credentials and cached auth/refresh tokens. This is only needed once, unless you want to update your info. In which case you run the same command again and it will update your profile.

    Commands:

Commands have been slightly updated to allow for better organization in the code. There are now three main commands that are required before using the other options:

    Code:
    # Use get to initiate downloads
    freevine.py get --episode/--movie/--titles etc.

    # Use search to look for titles:
freevine.py search bbc, all4, ctv "KEYWORDS"

    # Use profile to set user profile with credentials for a service:
freevine.py profile --username "USERNAME" --password "PASSWORD" --service "SERVICE"
    Improved functionality:

Channel4 will use your own credentials to authenticate, and collect and cache auth/refresh tokens, which is necessary to avoid being rate limited by too many logins.

BBC iPlayer will look for more available versions than before, grabbing best quality in almost any case it’s available. Work in progress.
*Descriptive audio is currently not supported.

CTV will also look for more available versions than before. More and more streams come with differently structured ids, which caused some issues in getting 1080p. But it should now get best available quality in most cases.
*Descriptive audio is currently not supported.

So if anyone is up for it, feel free to try a bunch of stuff and see what works and what doesn't.

  28. Hi Stabbed,...

Could you tell me if it's possible to download only the audio as mp3 from the beebs radio channel.

    An example : https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/brand/m001r528

How would one input this into the elevated cmd prompt...

I tried doing a search but it (obviously only found video items) from iplayer.

    Appreciate input and advice.

Find the DASH MPD, for example using "The Stream Detector" browser plugin, then simply download (there is no content protection), for example using dash-mpd-cli. For some reason, yt-dlp doesn't work on this URL.

    Code:
    dash-mpd-cli --quality best -o young.mp4 "https://aod-dash-ww-live.akamaized.net/usp/auth/vod/piff_abr_full_audio/adef14-p0gpnn5v/vf_p0gpnn5v_115149cc-e1d5-467c-8266-348ac089167f.ism/pc_hd_abr_v2_nonuk_dash_master.mpd?__gda__=whatever"
This will give you an MP4 container containing AAC audio (better than MP3).
