Iskysoft, now called Wondershare, refuses to update my older, perfectly capable Video Converter Ultimate in response to a changed Google API which has rendered useless its ability to download videos from any websites. I use it, since I'm on the glacially slow Hughesnet internet connection, with a 50gb monthly data allowance ($120!) to download one file at a time between the hours of 2am and 8am since I am in the habit of sleeping during that period. When i purchased the license for the program I paid for the "perpetual" upgrades, or whatever they call it. So AFAIK iSkysoft only just changed the name of the company and they'll be only too happy to sell you their renamed version that worked.

Anyone got a workaround for my problem? TIA!

Have you tried other software applications for downloading? I use Wonderfox HD Video Converter Factory Pro. It is quite good and they have a back to school sale at the moment for $30, but you might find a discount coupon by searching Google. I paid only about $10 for lifetime. The free download will work without any limitations for 100 downloads if I remember correctly, so this will give you enough time to see how good it is.

As for your internet service provider, I wanted to check the possibily of using Internet from satellite and the cost is just crazy. You get so little for too much money and there is a long time delay because of the signal travel back and forth.
We have here very fast internet and at reasonable cost. I wish I can share that with you somehow.
Can you use a mobile service provider or you have only internet from satellite?

Thanks very much. I'll check it out. No cell phone here in the wilds of North Carolina.
