  1. encoding captured uncompressed files

How do I get the best quality? I only get very poor quality when I encode, with virtualDub and the Divx low-motion codec.

    Help me!

  3. I want to compress it with the divx codec.
How do I get the best quality? Is where a way to
get the divx/mpg file to look nearly like the uncompressed?

  4. i mostly work the other way around, so i am not much of a help here, but the reason why i asked is: why?

if you want to encode dvd rips, you have to go via the divx codecs, multi pass, and play around a little bit with the bitrate

if you want to grab some material and edit it, go via huffyuv
