ASTDRmc for Dot Crawl?

I'm working on restoration of Star Trek: Voyager, and as anyone who's worked on it knows, it's replete with rainbows and dot crawl. Last week I discovered the ASTDRmc AVS script, and it seems to work pretty much perfectly to reduce or eliminate rainbows without any noticeable artifacts. Now to address the dot crawl.

I've tried all the solutions I can find but nothing seems to be able to have much effect without also wiping out the rest of the image. ASTDRmc seems to do an excellent job of masking, both for edges and motion. But it only works with the UV chroma planes. I've looked through it and understand very little of what's happening in it, though I am doing a lot of searching and reading to try to learn.

Does anyone know if this script could be modified to work with the Y luma plane instead to try and address all the rampant dot crawl?

DDcomb() is an excellent technique for this type of dotcrawl. I like to mask it with an edge mask so that only the affected areas are hit by it. Just a preference.
