  1. Ok, Nero has made me mad hehe when i try to burn a vcd it always gives me some error then it freezes my comp and have to reboot. burns regular cds ok but just with vcd burning.

is there any other burning program with that mode 2x/a thing? nero will let me burn a 800mb mpg to a 700mb cd-rw. vcdeasy makes the .bin to big to burn onto a 700mb cd

If NERO will make a VCD out of some files, then VCDEasy will make the same thing out of the same files -- A 700MB CD-R will hold 807MB (Average) of Mode2 (VCD) data.

If anything, VCDEasy will make a VCD which is 10x more compliant than NERO ever could (imho)

    VCDEasy kicks NERO's ass anyday.

  3. Didnt know VCDEasy could burn the cd itself but i still cant get it to below 700mbs stays around 775. How do i change the mode it uses? on the little selection thing where it says 'VCS 1.1, VCD 2.0, SVCD 1.0' the VCD 2.0 thing is checked.

When you say the size it tells you, I'm assuming you are refering to the "Approximate CD Size" under the list of files on the (S)VCD/Main screen? Mode2 is automatically chosen by VCDEasy and cannot be changed - (S)VCD's are burned in mode2, you can't change it.

That size is the mode2 compilation size. If it is telling you 775MB, then you'll be fine with an 80min CD-R. In mode2, it will hold about 807mb of data. (so you actually have 32mb more space to use).

If you don't have 80min cd-r's, then drop a 74min in, and it will get you about 753mb of mode2 data. So you will have to remove something, but that will be the same regardless of the authoring program you use.

I know its confusing about how much space CD-R's will use. 650Mb/74Min will hold about 655mb of data in mode1 (normal data backup) and about 753mb of video in mode2 (s/vcd authoring). 700mb/80min will hold about 702mb of data in mode1, and about 807mb in mode2.

  6. blah ive tried a few other burning programs too but still no luck, it goes fine for awhile then stops when its a full vcd. i think its my cd burner. to slow i guess. its a 4x4x8 CD-RW by Mitsumi, burns regular cds fine but messes up with cd rws.

Are there any good external cd-rws in the 100-150$ range maybe? hehe
