I ripped a protected WinX DVD Ripper to an mpg file.
This file (subtitles) plays fine in MPC-HC, MPC-BE and VLC.

When converting to MP4, the subtitle stream was invisible, but I managed this way:

    ffmpeg.exe -analyzeduration 2147483647 -probesize 2147483647 -i source.mpg -map 0:v -map 0:a? -map 0:s? -c:s copy "out.mp4"

However, in the mp4 file, only the subtitles placed in the upper part of the screen will appear or not at all (MPC-HC, depending on the renderer), while in VLC they are strongly shifted in time (as if the subtitle track was shifted from the starting point to the beginning of the file).
If I save to a mkv file, VLC displays everything correctly, and in MPC-HC without changes (only the subtitles placed in the upper part).
How do I cure it and compress it to MP4 properly?

  2. Post a mediainfo report (text mode) from your ripped mpg file here.

    Your commandline should be:
    ffmpeg.exe -i source.mpg -map 0 -dn -c copy "out.mp4"
