  1. I'm searching for a simple way to delete chapter markers within MKV files. I don't want to remove any actual segments from the videos, just want to have fewer chapters within them.

The only way I know of to do so in MKVtoolnix is by going into Chapter Editor, selecting the Chapter I want to remove (using right click then 'Remove...'), and changing the Start and End segments of the previous Chapter to basically fill in the gaps (I guess you know what I mean?).

Is there an easier way? Other programs I've downloaded seem to suggest it can be done, but I've not actually seen any descriptions on the internet on actually doing such a task!

  2. You can export the chapters to a text file and delete them from the video.
Then you can elaborate the chapters file with notepad and finaly add the new chapters to the video.
Can be done with clever Ffmpeg-GUI.

I'm not sure what you are explaining here, but suspect it is no quicker or easier than removing them in MKVtoolnix?

Using Inviska MKV Extract export the chapter file then import the chapter file into https://www.videohelp.com/software/chapterEditor edit as needed then import back into MKVToolnix. Easy enough if you simply want to get rid of all chapters!
