I have an APEX dvd player, tried to copy a dvd but didn't work, later found out that there was a macrovision thingy going on that won't let me copy. Can anyone help me bypass the macrovision?
Thanks,
Lanimoo

Go to the DVD hacks section here.
there is information on getting firmware upgrades needed to remove macrovision -
I went to local electrical store (in Australia is Jaycar) and bought a Video enhancer kit worth $40, if works great, enhancers older vhs tapes when recording, the only drawback I found is that it cancells out macrovision from any source you run through it.Bummer
Recorded many DVDs and VHS from the rental shops. Awsome quality.
Cheers
Dave
ps I assume you are talking standalone players here and not pc based onesWelcome my son, welcome to the machine. -
I bought a box (I don't remember the name) at a computer that take my picture from my computer and puts it on tv. Then i put my dvd in my comp and transfered it to my tv and then recorded the dvd with my vcr. Also another product that i found that was usefull but never tried is @ http://www.lik-sang.com/catalog/product_info.php?category=9&products_id=1365&
I went to look for myself, if I get back before I return, Keep me here. -
Yes you are correct, the macrovision thingy is scrambling your copy to VHS. Obvious questions would be; which model APEX drive do you have and have you checked the hacks area of this site for a workaround?

I have an AD-500W, but the stuff in the hack section don't help. It requires me to buy stuff.

I may be wrong, but an RF modulator should bypass macrovision. An example can be found at Radio Shack and will only put you out $30
