Mkv file with Dolby Atmos 7.1 to M2TS Dolby Atmos audio

Good Aternoon.

I am trying to to take a MKV file and keep the only the atmos audio track. I read on different post about EAC3to program. I tried it and I recieved an error message. Can somone please assist me?

Use mkvmerge to do what you want,nero is crap to use.

Yeah, I wrote one of those eac3to posts in your thread about conversion mkv to UHDBD. Where you can convert TrueHD only into TrueHD+AC3.

Eventhough this thread title would suggest the opposite, you say you want to create a mkv. Probably from a m2ts. Then johns0 is right. Use MKVToolnix if you wish for a GUI to mkvmerge. Just drop the m2ts in the source window. Embedded AC3 tracks will show as separate tracks which you can choose to keep or ditch. No audio has to be encoded/decoded, just demuxing and de-interleaving, and muxing to matroska.

Or is your title correct? That would read as if you want to do it the other way around.

But when I used dvdfab to encode to iso, some reason 7.1 does not play, only dts works. Would ypu why that's happening? Or is there another program I should be using.

ISO has nothing to do with encoding. It is a wrapper that's ao widely used for disc images.
I don't know DVDFab so can't tell anything about 7.1 audio issues. Most of my discs I rip with MakeMKV.

Dvdfab is crap,best to use makemkv as Ennio posted.

Next to ripping "main movie" to mkv, MakeMKV can also do a full-disc back-up.

I am trying to to convert a MkV to an M2TS for on BD.

I just tried using a MKV file. It works perfeclty ,video and sound. It has an HEVC video track. It also has 5 different audio tracks. I am only intrested keeping the HEVC Video and an TRHD 8 channels audio track. I tried Clever ffmeg, Tsmuxer , BD rebuilder. When i get to the M2TS file, some reason it does not play right. It s like garbled or jumpy. It looks like something to do with the TRHD track. Any suguesstions, if poosible?

You may need to process the output again after using this but it'll convert an MKV with TrueHD audio into a bluray folder/M2TS file.

Can't tell much about ClownBD, it's been too long. Maybe your video is Dolby Vision?
Posting MediaInfo data of the source may help. Also, did you try to demux the mkv?

clever FFmpeg-GUI can mux hevc+trhd8 from mkv to m2ts and vice versa.

Edit: Tested with Atmos 7.1 today, works fine.

Your mkv contains Dolby Vision Profile 7 video. This profile is used on UHDBD disc and consists of a baselayer (BL) and an enhancement layer (EL). The latter contains the so-called "RPU", which is Dolby Vision's dynamic metadata.

During mkv creation BL and EL+RPU are interleaved into one videotrack. As such it's called "single track dual-layer". Of which I wouldn't know if tsMuxer will accept on input, and more importantly if it knows how to demux it well. Because DV on UHDBD contains two separate videostreams in one m2ts container. When you check the correct playlist or m2ts from your disc with MediaInfo you'll see Video #1 and Video #2.

If you want to create Dolby Vision m2ts or UHDBD you initially must demux the mkv to its elementary streams. This you can do with gMKVExtractGUI which is a frontend to the MKVToolNix demuxing trool. Realise that the resulting videostream will still contain the two interleaved layers. Which you can further take apart into BL and EL+RPU with quietvoid's dovitool. This is a CLI tool. But for basic needs it's not hard to learn.

Resulting streams BL and EL+RPU can be imported into tsMuxer with your desired audio and mux it to m2ts or UHDBD. If you don't care for Dolby Vision you can choose to import only the baselayer. It's a normal HDR encoded stream as you'll find many on UHDBD without DV.
