  1. I bet I saw the same question here on VideoHelp a couple of weeks ago, should have bookmarked it. I thought that blocking is unavoidable because of long GOP, so what I do is I backtrack several seconds, and then frame skip forward until the point I am interested in. But then, when played at full speed there is no blocking. So, I guess there is a solution, and I think it was given in the other thread.

    So, what do I do to see complete picture, not just assorted squares, in my MPEG-2 video in VDub2?

    Thanks!

  2. Go -> Next keyframe (=Shift+right)

  3. I actually want to skip every frame one by one without mozaicking. I thought that I can enable some sort of buffer, either in VDub or maybe through AVS script to simplify navigation over videos with very long GOPs.

  4. Don't use the ffmpeg source filter in VirtualDub2. Use the MPEG2 source filter instead. Or use an AviSynth script with Mpeg2Source() to open the video. The latter is the best.

    How do I specify VDub2 source filter? Do I need AviSynth for this? Googling for "virtualdub MPEG2 source filter" does not return anything relevant.

    EDIT: I see MPEG-2 plugin v4.5 by fccHandler, but it is included in VDub2.

    In VirtualDub2, when you open a video with File -> Open Video File... Use the Files of Type: pulldown to select MPEG Video/systems stream...

  7. It does not seem to support TS (MTS, M2TS). Says "Incomplete frame".

  8. A lot of programs have problems with MPEG2 in TS. Remux from TS to MPG.
