  1. I installed potplayer on my laptop. During the setup I ticked install opencodec. It was downloaded but then the download stopped halfway and opencodec wasn't installed.

I installed potplayer on my other laptop and I didn't tick install opencodec during the setup. After that I got opencodec from https://codecpack.co/download/PotPlayer.html and I installed it. It created extra stuff in the modules folder in potplayer. Those extra stuff are not in the modules folder of my first laptop.

    I want to ask:-

    1) Is opencodec really needed on the first laptop? I can play x265 mp4 files that have 6 channel aac audio fine without opencodec in potplayer. Also I converted an x265 mp4 file to mkv and I can play mkv files fine without opencodec in potplayer.

    2) Is installing opencodec safe and only potplayer uses it and it won't interfere with windows and it's not like I am installing something like k-lite codec pack?

  2. Great choice. PotPlayer is amazing software player that I've always used.

    1) I never installed opencodec and PotPlayer works perfectly without it.

    2) It's probably safe, I don't think it installs into Windows system. If this is bothering you, uninstall it.
