I am trying to find a good usenet reader, I have tried a few but most are not really very helpful.......especailly dealing with rar files and multi (or should I say missing part files). Is there any reader that help w/ knowing if all there? reparing? encoding/decoding and pars etc...
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated :o

i use Newsgrabber pro ( latst version ) as it supports yenc decoding. No newsreader that I know will unrar, or process par files, after all that the job on Winrar and Smart Par respectively. If you got all the pars and most of the file Smart Par does a good job of completeing posts.

Xnews is good for grabbing all the parts (and it's free). Pretty easy to figure out, too.
I would definitely recommend fsraid as your par, checker, etc. program.
You'll find it at fluidstudios.com. It does all the name changing, and fixes corrupted files as well as rebuilding missing files (you'll still need enough pars). It's really fast at it, too.
If you want to pay, www.easynews.com is great. They have a 45 day retention rate going right now. It's 9.98 a month, or for 6 gigs, whichever comes first.

Agent or Free Agent, might not be very pretty like the other toys but
for functionality it can't be beaten.

Another good reader is News Rover. There is a free trial period of I think 30 days. I have used for several years as well as free agent and like it real well. There support has been very good as well.

I've used all of the more popular news readers, including each named here, except for newsrover. Trying to answer which is the best is difficult because they all offer something different and all are probably best for doing one thing in particular. It's really a question of what you want to do.
However, from my experience I would have to recommend newspro. It is the most versatile and powerful reader I've used. And, like xnews, it's free! Newspro is similiar to newsbin, but has more options and imo it has a better interface.
The only problem with newspro is that the documentation is really bad. If you don't want to mess with taking the time to figure it out then you probably don't want to mess with newspro. In that case, I'd recommend newsbin if you have multiple servers, or xnews with only a single server, since xnews doesn't handle multiple servers as conveniently as newsbin.
