  1. Hi, has anyone any knowledge of using Shotcut to edit and export video files?. I downloaded the current version from this site but for some odd reason when I tried to export the video on the timeline nothing would happen. I've heard that it just pens the file and it's a bug with the program.

Also, in the video settings it gives this list of bitrates which I'm not familiar and for me and don't make any sense:

Aren't those supposed to be audio bitrates?

If you don't get the answer here, this kind of thing is often discussed on the Shotcut forum.

For some reason Shotcut wouldn't export video. I've heard other people have the same issue where it's on a pending.

I decided to use Kdenlive instead, but a few times it wouldn't export the file, kept saying low on RAM, and I was exporting the to my 1TB external HDD.

4GB of RAM may be OK for 1080p at a pinch but it's not enough for 4K video

No I'm not editing in 1080p or 4K, just standard definition at 576.

Using lots of editor effects, filters, transitions, etc. will increase the demand.
Also different editors themselves will have smaller / larger footprints.

4GB not really enough these days; as time goes by it gets tighter and tighter,
the OS, the programs, everything gets bigger over time.

Add some more RAM if you can
