    Hello there,

for starters, I'm a total Noob when it comes to Video and stuff. Over time I've bought a Lot of Movies, Some on DVD and some on Bluray. I Even bought some Digitally.
Now I'd like to consolidate all of them in one Plex Server if possible. I've started Converting some of the DVD's and Bluray's into .h264 1080p Videos.

Currently I'm using a Software called Dumbofab Video Converter Ultimate.

    Now for my questions:
    - The Program sometimes won't Convert(?) some Bluray's or DVD's. Why is that? Is there a way around it? I Have a 3 Movie Collection of Matrix and to this day i haven't been able to get all 3 of them onto my NAS.
    - How much do I lose in Video Quality? Are there better Ways for doing this kind of thing? Would anybody Suggest a different kind of Software? or Hardware?
    - Is Plex even my best option?

The encryption used on DVD was totally broken many years ago. So the studios work very hard to introduce obfuscations in the DVD structure that confuse the copying programs. Once the copying programs are update the studios develop new obfuscations. It's a cat and most game.

Wait for the developers to update their software then update to the latest version.

It depends on the settings you use when converting. Losses can range from almost nothing to horrendous.

Using IFO mode (where the software emulates the way a DVD would play the titles) is more likely work than ISO mode (where the software tries to create a full image of the disc, retaining the full menu structure).

I believe the paid version of DVD Fab is still the best software for this. At least as far as getting the video decrypted and off the disc.
