Local libraries are scanning old high school yearbooks and providing pdf, zipped jp2 formats on Internet Archive.
I prefer jpg for viewing and zooming in, etc.
Most commercial software doesn't handle jp2. I tried ffmpeg and it errors out on some of the files.
I'm looking for free or cheap conversion software.
I suppose I question why jpeg 2000 is used for archival purposes since it seems to have dead-ended.

Try IrfanView and others depending on O/S

I was considering IrfanView. Just not sure what it will do to my file associations when it installs.
EDIT: I installed IrfanView on a different user account to try it out.
I ran the conversion on several hundred jp2 files and it appears to work great. No errors.Last edited by JoeS99; 24th Jul 2023 at 11:27.

Try ImageMagick - seem to provide support for JPEG 2000 https://imagemagick.org/script/jp2.php

I have concerns with graphics programs grabbing associations with graphics file types when they install.
IrfanView gives you a choice and you can select "none" and change the settings later.
It's usually unknown how they behave until you install it.
