  1. On a Win10 Pro x64 desktop, I play a video in PotPlayer. Audio and video are out of sync. I import that video into Adobe Premiere Elements 2020. Audio and video continue to be out of sync in PotPlayer - but they are in sync, for the same video, in Premiere Elements. I close Premiere Elements and PotPlayer, and then try again to play that video in PotPlayer. Now audio and video are in sync.

I close PotPlayer and do other stuff for a few hours. I resume playing the video where I left off, in PotPlayer. Audio and video are back out of sync. I start Premiere Elements and play a bit of the video. It's in sync. I start a new session of PotPlayer. As before, the video is in sync there too.

    Any idea what's going on?

  2. Cut 30 sec of this video with avidemux and post it here.

  3. In response to that request for an excerpt, I screen-captured a video segment using OBS Studio. Viewed in PotPlayer, it was out of sync. I cut a 30-second excerpt as requested, using Avidemux and also FFmpeg. In both cases, played in PotPlayer, the audio and video were in sync in the excerpt. I closed the first PotPlayer session (displaying the original) and started a new one (again displaying the original). Now the original was in sync too.

I have uploaded the 30-second excerpt as requested. I doubt there's anything of interest there.

There doesn't appear to be an issue with the video per se. It seems more likely that it would be a driver issue. It appears that tools like Avidemux may load drivers that resolve something missing in PotPlayer.

I think I did encounter the same problem when using other players. I can't test that now, because apparently the required driver is loaded at the moment. I will have to try again later, when the problem recurs in PotPlayer.

That video is useless since youtube re-encodes everything. Upload an unmodified sample direct from your source to this site.
Avidemux in "copy" mode should be fine

Video in synch with both audiostreams.
Maybe your computer is overwhelmed with the 1920x1080 video resolution.

  7. But in that case, why would it be in sync sometimes and not at other times?

Probably not overwhelmed. The CPU is an Intel Core i7-4790. 32GB RAM. It's a capable video editing machine. System Monitor (via Moo0) reports plenty of free resources. Not much else running on the system.

    Maybe a Potplayer issue...
Could be a problem with temporary files too.
