Does anyone use VLC player to capture from a VCR analogue source?. I was aware that you can capture from a capture device but all I was getting until today was a blurry low res image, that's because I realise that you had to manually type in the frame size. Capture seems good even for my poorly worn tapes, however, the outputted file seems very large even for a raw lossless capture (1.42gb for a 1 min 48 capture. Is there a way of lowering the file size in capture, maybe using a codec?. I don't think even Virtualdub produces files that large. I know some will say that VLC is not an ideal program but it is the only program that seems to work with my capture device.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays!

I saw in another post that your capture device is EasyCap.
Perhaps you should install the software that comes with it instead of VLC

Select the container, video, and audio codecs. See this for an example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L--YA-B_D5Q
