This program, as well countless others use x264/x265 under the covers for the actual encode. The controls and results are basically the same,
    only the GUI is different

Are you talking about the youtube profile on the format tab??
This preset sets a number of video specifics on the video tab, you can override them with the setting you propose.

Nothing magic about the youtube preset

So it is somewhat similar to Virtualdub with its PointResize/Nearest Neighbor upscale, right? I just need to make sure before I do anything.

Okay. I just need to make sure. I guess the only thing left to do is to go through with my conversion. I usually use two filters in Virtualdub2 but I guess I just need one filter. The second filter was mostly for aspect ratio correction. The CRF was there to make sure things ran smoothly. Compression is usually on slower. I still have one last question, can you do all those things in Xmedia REcode?

I'm pretty sure it can, however, I find the the filter system in XMR
convoluted and less intuituve. You'll have to try it and see

Bump. I was planning to to use XMedia Recode to upscale my pixelated game captures but I still have some questions. I was about to upscale only to learn that the methods as used only apply to Archive.org and not YouTube. I want to use its nearest neighbor upscale but how do I set it up to match YouTube's encoding settings?
