  1. Is it possible to force subtitles to overlap in SubtitleEdit?

    I have sets of three lines of the same text I want to be in the same position, but by default, SubtitleEdit places these lines above one another.

    I could manually define the same position for each of these three, but since that requires a different position for each set of three lines, that would be a lot of work.

    Is there a setting that would disregard other subtitles/margins and would just place them all on top of one another?

    Usually these lines are using the <br /> html syntax
    Try to select all the subtitles lines and on the right handside click on Unbreak

    Can you please attach a snapshot, just in case I misundertood what you need?

  3. This is what I mean:

    I noticed that in an .ass that I extracted from an .mkv there were some subtitles that used different styles to create a stroke-like effect. I want to mimic that, but if I try to (even by manually recreating the three lines in the picture), I get the result where they are stacked on top of one another.
    I have saved the styles from the extracted subtitles and used them one thee lines I have created myself, but for some reason, they are not overlapping.

    Thanks for the snapshots. I was wrong that breakline solution works for *.srt, but you have *.ass file.
    Do you need all the three lines?
    If you don't, then you can try to do search and replace from the edit > replace or edit > multiple replace

  5. Like I said, the three overlapping lines create a stroke effect that I wish to mimic.

    Is it possible to force them to overlap?

    In you example:

    {\fad(200,200)}They will finally feel the flames
    {\blur2\fad(200,200)}They will finally feel the flames
    {\blur4\fad(200,200)}They will finally feel the flames

    Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in my previous post
    Try this
    In SubtitlesEdit, edit > replace
    {\blur2\fad(200,200)}
    to
    {\fad(200,200)}

    and
    {\blur4\fad(200,200)}
    to
    {\fad(200,200)}

    Let me know if this work for your example.
    If it does then use edit > multiple replace

  7. Removing the blur does not fix it, and if the blur is gone, the stroke effect is also no longer showing.
