  1. I get error msg: "No media files found, please transfer some files to your device or adjust your preferences." Although, I set up a media directory with music videos in VLC on my pc. This was working fine before cloning my hard drive. I have reinstalled the latest versions of VLC on my pc and Firestick but no help. Sane problem with Kodi. BTW, Emby and Plex work OK playing media from my pc on my Firestick. Any ideas would be appeciated. Thanks.

Does VLC create a upnp/dlna server that Kodi is supposed to access?
I am doing a similar thing to you, but I'm using the server built into Windows

Did you enable upnp in the Kodi preferences

Try using the built in Windows server see if that works. You have to turn on media sharing in the network and sharing center (at least thats what its called in Windows 10).
You can check the result in Windows Explorer/network, "computer" is the SMB share, while "media devices" are the UPNP shares

Have the same problem myself. After using it for years it suddenly stopped working without me changing any settings on my PC or Firestick. I wonder if it was caused by an update considering mine started close to the same time.

    "Have the same problem myself."

Earlier in this thread we discussed both VLC server and the built-in Windows media server.
Perhaps you should have started your own thread with full details.

However, for the Windows server, this often helps:
IN the screen "Choose media streaming options for computers and devices"
    select "Block all"
    Wait 10 seconds.
Then select "Enable all" (For this you may have to re-enable streaming)
