Hello everyone,
new to the forum here, hope to find some advice on my issue. I am trying to digitize VHS tapes and currently have issues with the video signal in the VirtualDub 1.9.11 screen.
Once connected VirtualDub video from VCR is flickering and the signal is distorted. I am a bit out of ideas about what to test more. See the capture sample how it looks like now.
My VCR is JVC-7611EU, capture card AIW 9800 Pro
What I tried so far:
- external projector directly connected to VCR (the direct connection has no issues with the video output)
- different s-video cables
- different break-out dongles
- switched to another AIW 9200 card
- switched to another same model motherboard
... but the output is the same.
Does anyone would have any ideas for troubleshooting or what possibly might be an issue?

Bad capture for sure, try an older version of Virtualdub (think I used to use VirtualDub-1.10.0 available here on VH) or AmarecTV to capture.
It's not important the problem be solved, only that the blame for the mistake is assigned correctly -
This one was weird. I have tried playing videos with ATI MMC player and it had no issues there. After that, I switched back to VirtualDub capture and it was also good there.
Feels like some settings are not switched automatically, not sure.
