I recall back in the good old days, we have madVR to upscale videos. What's the modern day equivalent, and is there anything else I can send to my GPU to maximize its use?

    Thanks!

To maximize your RTX 3060 Ti's use:

Enable hardware acceleration in applications that support it.
Leverage GPU compute for tasks like machine learning or simulations.
Optimize game settings for a balance between visuals and performance.
Keep GPU drivers up to date.

    Sounds like someone asked ChatGPT.

The modern day equivalent is to use AI upscaling, but with a 3060 you're not going to get close to realtime. Check out Topaz or ESRGAN and you'll find your GPU totally maxed.

I have suspected that Dorothy's posts were not written by a human from the start. It's good to know that I am not alone in my suspicion.

If you like madVR, it is still recommended by many on these forums.

If you use VLC, the latest version supports RTX Super Video Resolution.

Hi there, I noticed madVR hasn't been updated since Q3 2022 - how does this compare to VLC's RTX super resolution? Also, this feature is still in beta mode right?

Hi! Do you also use Lightroom? I've used both Lightroom & Topaz sometime back, but feel that Topaz doesn't really edge out Lightroom and I still have to export them to a separate app for processing.

ESRGAN looks cool though - is there a frontend GUI for it so beginners can use it? 😅

look forward to other useful applications that can maximize my GPU!

Even well-regarded free software doesn't always get frequent updates.

I don't currently use either madVR or RTX Super Video Resolution. I tried madVR recently but not for upscaling and don't have an NVIDIA GPU. I did read that RTX Super Video Resolution was good for upscaling video.

(I tried madVR and then MPC Video Renderer with MPC-BE for HDR-10 pass-through to my new 4K TV but neither worked for some reason. I decided that if I had to rely on tone mapping, I preferred MPC Video Renderer for that.)

[Edit]Here is a link to the VLC fork with support for RTX Video Super Resolution: https://downloads.videolan.org/testing/vlc-rtx-upscaler/
