  1. I downloaded videolan and I was told that it is made to make your cd-rom play dvds is that true and if so why doesnt mine play or even reconize the dvd in the drive?

    Dude... CD-ROMS cannot read DVDs. The laser in CD-ROM devices are only able to read CDs. To read DVDs you *need* a DVD drive.

  4. If that worked, no one would buy DVD-ROM drives. Since most people tend to be skinflint cheap and pirate any software that doesn't need a dongle, they likewise won't pay money for hardware they don't need, and DVD-ROM drives would sit on store shelves until they turned to dust.
