Hi, I have two Panasonic vhs-c tapes that i'd like to capture, but don't have any VHS-C to VHS adapter. I read to be really careful buying them.
Usually Panasonic or JVC ones are recommended.

    VCRs i have now: HR-S7500, HR-J668, HR-J658.
I'd like to use HR-S7500 as it's S-VHS vcr but don't know if it's realy safe doing it as i found out that it's not really advised to use vhs-c with jvc vcrs, but i guess the adapter quality would be more important.

I found Blaupunkt CA-4600 vhs-c adapter for 22 euro. Is it worth to buy it? Its seller says it was used just a few times. I saw blaupunkt sold copies of panasonic vcrs in eu so maybe this adapter is also a copy of Panasonic one? There are plenty of hama adapters and other no names but i guess their quality will be worse and not as safe and reliable.

  2. The 3 files used different codecs
    1 mpeg2 (like DVD)
    2 DV (PAL)
    3 mpeg4 (AVC)

Basically you can edit any of these but you would have to decode and re-encode. DV is easiest for cutting because it has I-frames only.

If you really want to recapture the tapes you may buy the adaptor and try with a less precious or unused tape to test the 'mechanics' first.
Be prepared to rewind/recapture the tapes quite a few times just for adjusting all the parameters of the setup for a lossless capture.

That's the main reason i want to capture the tapes by myself, with HuffYUV and right levels.

What adapters are recommended? Is this blaupunkt one any good?

I did capture of standard VHS tapes recently, here's the thread: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/410062-Which-capture-of-my-old-VHS-looks-the-best

In thread linked above i had to use HR-J668 and DMR-ES10 blowed whites but with HR-S7500 it doesn't occure.
So generally i need to get right adapter and test how it behaves with my vcr.
