On a VOD of a >*5 hrs stream there were some technical issues resulting in silences, which I estimate their average approaching 5 mins. I'd like for the audio to be extracted as well as significantly reducing the duration of silences. Silences don't need to be completely cropped out, reducing them > 3/4 is sufficient, I mention this as if there's a way to remove audio "blocks" while leaving the remaining original audio the same would be amazing, with no decompressing nor compressing ; it the silences beginnings & ends are detected and only the "blocks" completely fitting in the silences are removed. My system is Windows 10 but Cygwin is installed on it, thus has access to come *NIX features, although often lagging 1-2 versions (from the current one). See the attached screenshot as well as the quote below for information about the video.

Thank you kindly for your help

  2. If you cut the silences you will go out of synch with the video.

  4. - You can cut aac audio losslessly on audio blocks. mp3DirectCut can manually cut .m4a/aac.
    - You can cut video losslessly on keyframes.

I don't know if there is software that can handle detect and cut audio silence automatically, but it's not impossible.

You can use clever FFmpeg-GUI for extracting.
