After reading various posts etc here I bought this player, only to find that it does not do what the posts said.

The region hack/macrovision disable does not work, the player seems to be regionfree even when set to 4(?) as I played a region 2 DVD OK. The macrovision disable using 7,4,enter on remote to get to the hidden menu, then change the macrovision to 0 is not there. There is only error correction on the 2nd page. On the 1st page is "OP Proh" which I assume is macrovision, as its set to 1, changing this to 0 has no effect.

I can only play SVCD MPEG2 by remuxing with TMPG MPG tools to VCD. SVCD's play intermittantly, mostly PBC problems, no 1st play image, then plays but if disc is stopped and played again, same thing happens.

Also only seems to play upto 5000Kbps, not 8000Kbps as stated in a post on the player list.

I have tried SVCD's authored with VCDeasy, AVI2SVCD, Ulead Movie factory, tried the various compatibility settings and standards, still no luck.

Any ideas from owners out there, those who wrote the player reviews etc ???

Firmware code is DVD MK 3-3, SGD-001.
