    GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 6-core 3.50 GHz
    RAM 16 GB

    I can't figure it out
I bought a new PC and installed KMPlayer (I don't want to use another player!)
Problem is that 4K videos (resolution 3840x2160) are running slow, like on slow motion.

I have no problems with any other player! Only KMPlayer. So hardware is not the issue, I think.

I had no such issues with KMPlayer on my old PC with GPU Nvidia GeForce 1060 TI

    Whats wrong now?
    Please help!

  2. 1. What renderer?
    2. Do you use hardware acceleration or use software decoding?
    3. Post mediainfo log of problem file.

    I use Hardware acceleration DXVA2 (copy-back)
Other available option is DXVA2 (native) Rest are not available.

    Renderer: VMR9 Renderless (HQ subtitles)

I've tried Haali's video - still the same even worst
I've tried Enhanced video renderer - 4K videos playback is normal but all other videos below 4k resolutions are changed and look worst.

  4. You do know what copy back means?
The data mus tbe copied back to system RAM, which can lead to bottleneck
Renderer "VMR9 Renderless (HQ subtitles)" is very old.

Not so familiar with KMPlayer, but what renderers does it have alternatively? I am an advanced user of another Directshow player for over 15 years, so I am pretty sure I can help.

Ok I've switched to DXVA2 (native) the only other option. Now 4k videos are playing normal.
But again all the lower quality/resolution are somehow sharpened in a bad way.
Any suggestions what renderer to use?

  6. madVR or "Madshi's Video Renderer" as it is called in KMPlayer for whatever reason, is the best video renderer with excellent options to fine tune the scaler. but beware ... it is a rabbit hole:

Although it is not actively updated anymore, it is rocksolid. The dev switched to commercial business to make money. But it still works as it should.

I had to check the 3 boxes below in order to work. Not sure what they do but it seems everything works fine now!
Thank you very much for your help!!! Couldn't figure it myself!
