  1. I bought one of these cards from Wal-mart last week because I was planning to capture some music video stuff from the sattelite and make DVD's. The first thing that struck me was that there was no tuner on the card, even though the packaging sure made it seem like there was (without seeing the tiny little graph of ATI capture cards that said it did not). Then the damn thing wouldn't work! I hooked it up per the manual, no luck. First Windows XP told me it was not a certified XP-compatible hardware, but I got it installed. Then I installed the XP drivers from the ATI website (now, if there are XP drivers available, how can it not be XP certified?). After I got everything hooked up...nothing. So I hooked up an external antenna (which I bought at the same tiime as the ATI card) to my VCR and hooked up the RF out from the VCR to the RF input on the card. That got me sound but a picture that was all staticy. So, thinking that I might have been using a bad cable, removed one of my Monster video cable from my home dvd player and hooked it in. Same results. So, now, thinking that maybe either the RCA jack on the card was bad or the RCA video out jack card was bad, I hooked up my portable dvd player to the jack on the card and played video through the card. It worked great. Then I switched the portable dvd player back to 'video in' and hooked it up to the video out on my VCR, still with the antenna hooked up to the VCR. I got a great picture on my portable's screen. Now I'm at a loss how to proceed at this point. The picture from the card has some picture information on it (not all static) and I get great sound. But can anyone tell me why I can't get picture? I've even tried running a length of cable from my sattelite output with the same results.

I can't help you with your technical issues, but I happen to know for a fact that the TV Wonder VE has a tuner - it's the same card I'm using. Did you install the Microsoft video capture update before installing any of the TV Card drivers? That might have been the problem.

I don't know why, but that's what everyone says to do. Do the video capture update first, then the drivers, then MMC 7.1 (not the stuff bundled with the card - go to the website and download the newer versions).

For the MS video capture update you'll have to root around on Microsoft's site. I don't remember where it is.

    Good luck
