Does anyone here can help me find if this is a belt or a motor issue?
First of all, when I turn on the machine, it gets off and I see ---- on the screen.
When I insert the tape on when the unit is turned off, It turns on and play.
Over a week, tape is hard to insert. I need to push it kind of hard until the vcr turns on, but it's working.
Now it won't work unless I give it a little push on the motor's spindle with my finger.
Video is on youtube because I can't upload here

Either the belt is loose or the motor is dying, You need to find out which one is causing the problem and replace it.

I removed the belt, powered it on and the motor spins.
When I insert a tape, it spins too !
So it might be a belt problem although it looks good, not dry and has tension? -
it spins freely but how about if you put a load on it by holding it, does it have enough torque?

Replace the motor.

Perhaps 1 missing tooth on the gears related to the motor.

Yes, 12voltvids at youtube has mentioned many times, a lot of VCR's,
The plastic/nylon gears can develop a crack and become ineffective.
In some cases he uses epoxy resin to fix -
I have replaced the dc motor from another used jvc machine and it works like a charm!

Glad you got it fixed, You saved another machine from the landfill.
