  1. hello new here and thank you in advance

    thread says the above .

JVC-HM-DH3000U was all fine working over month or so ago and only had maybe less than 10 hrs use with three Dtheatre tapes , backdraft , the pacemaker , cape fear .

the HS that appears has no led circling around .

the video display appears for a few seconds that shows tape and time and then a plain white background ?

i'm certain many have seen threads and posts like this and why am i bothering with a format that seems so very problematic than most working Laserdisc players ?

i'm waiting for some cleaning fluid and chamois leather or may try the white paper technique but i'm not really confident it would solve it and have the player visually playing fine with optical digital Dolby output .
yes no sound which means the tape must be read as its digitally stored on DVHS tape .

what is the large board inside the player to left side its stood in vertical position is that to do with DVHS d-theatre processing ?

i not sure how many heads i can count , is it eight or six heads on this player and one or few i guess would be for S/VHS the others maybe DVHS ?
i'm guessing one of few of the heads have gotten dirty in some sort of strange way ?

i notice the tape stays more less laced around the video head drum when in stop or powered down mode , is that normal for these later DVHS dtheater players ? could it be possible that being switched off for month that the magnetic coating of the tape done something to one of the heads ? moister ? the room doesn't get cold enough during past few months of the winter .

so who here has some bright ideas as i like to read them or see a video that can show way to solving the issue ?

so here is video of JVC and no circling around the HS

    again thanks

  2. keep it simple first, clean the heads yes (white paper is ok, gently pressed on the drum indeed, rotate the drum counter clockwise)
clean until no residue can be seen. You can clean the whole tape path aswell ( guides, rollers etc, it will not hurt)
After that, you may want to try other type of tapes, namely vhs, s-vhs.

Hello dear, I just have a question, were you ever able to capture through the i-link output of this device, if so, which firewire capture card did you use?
