I'm having problems viewing some videos on my Philips DVD825 player. I don't know if it's a PAL/NTSC issue at times or the way I'm burning the SVCD's.
I've burned converted AVI's to (S)VCD's before and had them play without many problems in this DVD player, but most of the videos I get lately have already been converted to (S)VCD.
When the Philips DVD player has a problem with a (S)VCD, it has the sound, but the video is dark and just keeps rolling from top to bottom. The player is suppose to be able to handle SVCD's, so I assume the problem is how the orginal conversion was done or how I burn the CD's.
I have the latest firmware installed on the player (9.28)
So here's some general questions:
Does it matter what speed I use when burning (S)VCD's (my CD writer can write up to 12x) from the CUE/BIN files?
Is there any special burning techniques I can try/change when I download a SVCD movie (which, once un-packed, is already in the CUE/BIN format)? I've read on this site about converting from SVCD to VCD and PAL to NTSC, but if the my problem is in the way the orginal file was created, can I really make a difference after the fact?
I usually use Nero to burn CUE/BIN images to (S)VCD's...Is there a better (or more reliable) software package for this burning process?
Any other ideas on what I should generally look out for when burning these "pre-made" (S)VCD images?
I appreciate any thoughts and help in this matter.
Thanks!
