  1. Trying to download from Virgin media. I know its DRM'd but I tried with YT-DLP just to see. It said this video is DRM protected and would not download. Should it not at least download the protected video?

How can I tell what sort of DRM is on it. I looked at the stickies but do not see how to use them or even which one?

Thanks but I do not see how that helps me. I have already downloaded the MP4 video and the M4A sound. It does not say what DRM. I read the DRM should be mentioned in the details tab but it is not.

Im a big time noob. What I do is, if a specific information isnt readily available Id try to find out what other information I need to decrypt the file(thats my objective right?). That link provides you with information you need to decrypt the files.

A pssh for instance is required. If its not in the same thread, search a bit more to find out how the pssh can be obtained for that particular site.
Next a lic is needed. Find out how you can get that.
    Next headers... and so on.

That way, you get a head start. Sometimes you can simply follow the breadcrumbs and reach the finish line, sometimes you get stuck midway, sometimes you will fall flat on your face. C'est la vie

So rather than getting stuck with one thing, try different approaches.

Virgin media UK or Ireland? Their player app (android) or the website catchup service? VM is a bit of a mix, especially in Ireland. There is a website and app that allows catch up to its own programming, and that uses widevine. They also have a site and app that allows catch up for all the other channels it's carries on it's STB's. And, that doesn't use WV, last I looked, it seems to be using MSPR.

    Ok, that narrows it down.
    if it's this one
    https://www.virginmediatelevision.ie/player/
it's a mixed service, some content is unencrypted, other imported content is encrypted. (you'll learn pretty quick what is and isn't)

if it unfortunately turns out to be this one.
    https://www.virginmediatv.ie/
    You are out of look.
I did take a look at it a few months back, and while I had a number of other things going on, the brief look didn't hold out much confidence. It wasn't set up the same way as their other site.

Hopefully, there is a solution and someone may be forthcoming

You will need to source a working CDM, and WKS, good news is, that site only uses L3 encryption, bad news, you are going to have to do some reading.
But, my good friend A_n_g_e_l_a has some how to's stickied in the subforum, the 3 Decryption posts. (try to avoid the additional comments in the threads until you've had a good read and reread of what Angela has written, some users got a tad carried away.
    Good luck.

addendum, if it's simply just the key for that video you want, then.
    Code:
    KID:KEY -> 7b49e461015e442fabdb6a0e9770ab87:8c52c258bef494db20ed2abaa7b5f2f1
depending on what you use to decrypt (shaka-packager or mp4decrypt) you'll need either both kid and key (shaka) or simply the key (mp4decrypt)
