  1. Hi,

I have Sony P4 1.7 Ghz, 512Mb RAM, XP HE, etc.

Since recently, I can not import the mpeg2 done by TMPGenc into DVDit! SE v. 2.52 Ligos. I get error message "Could not find a suitable decoder".
I have the same TMPGenc settings for the past 3-4 TMPGenc releases (PAL, 60min, VBR, encode mode - Interlaced, DC component 10, motion prec. - Highest quality, etc.) I never ever touched GOPs. They have 15 farmes as max, etc. ALl should be OK.

Initially, I thougth that encoding bit rate is to high, decreased to the 6000b/sec but still got the same problem. I tried all here proposed solutions but none of them worked. I went to Sonic DVDit! forum, tried all proposed solution there - nothing worked.

Then I talked to DVDit! helpdesk - got private number from one of the guys. They tried something remotely but it did not worked.
Then, they asked me for the sample mpeg2 - not bigger then 4Mb. Amazingly, what ever file I create by TMPGenc up to the 4Mb (approx. 7 sec of movie) DVDit! process it without any problems. Even if I cut piece from "bad" mpeg2 file to get small file - everything works fine.

But I do not want that crazy to cut all my movies in the portions of 5-7 sec.
Then I tried to upload TMPGenc mpeg2 files done 2 months ago (with the same settings) into DVDit! - no problem.

I propsed sending bigger "bad" mpeg2 file to Sonic via FTP so that they can see what's going on - but nobody answered so far.

The only thing that come son my mind is that Microsoft made recently XP "fix" for mpeg encoding - I upgrade my system and ever since then I fail with DVDit!

The Sonic charges per incident US$29.95 but they should provide fix. I have no problems paying that amount - ALL I NEED IS fix. I do NOT want to get rid of TMPG cause I think it is great tool - better to scrap DVDit.

Does anyone has idea what should I do.

    Thanks
    P.S.

I recently updated XP Home edition with official "encoder improvement".
I do not know whether that causes problem but the web (DVDit! forum, TNPG forum, and couple of other sites) are swamp with this and "GOP error" from either TMPGenc or DVDit!

  2. I have to ask you. Did you demuxed the mpeg you made by Tmpgenc or Ligos? I'm not using DVDit anymore but as I can remember I also made some simular misstake at the beggining of my DVD-author carrier.

DVDit don't like mpa- files and the sound file after demuxing is a mpa.

I only used mp2 (video only) and wav file. I also used Tecoltd.com 's Bitrate software to cut off the user spike at the and of my mpeg stream made by Pinnacle DV500 plus. This spike isn't a problem anymore after the new driver has arrived.

At least you can download this software from www.tecoltd.com . It can be used to examine the mpeg stream and if you registered the software you can also correct the mpeg with it.

  3. Hi,
Thanks for the info. I'll have a look at those products. The one is pretty salty with the price (Eur. 495). Doe it make sence to go with it?!?!?!?

However, I still believe that it should work with TMPGenc.

    Any help assistance is appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. DVDit works well with Tmpgenc encoded mpegs. But you have to separete the audio from the video. Did you do it? If you have a GOP structure error, which I guess you don't have, you can use Bitrateviewer (~30 euros) to check it. The only way to get different GOP is if you used scene check in Tmpgenc. Otherwise it is 15 after your settings.

  5. Yes, DVDit workd perfectly for me ever since I started to use TMPGenc. I never ever changed my TMPG settings and I never ever experienced problem until recently. I never ever splitted audio from video and it ALWAYS worked fine - again until recently.
I am not an expert in DVD editting but what I know and what I saw I had no problems with GOP.
The weird thing is that when I cut "bad" mpeg2 and create small mpeg2 "clip" using THE SAME file using TMPGenc mpeg tools, everything wotks fine.

I am wondering is there something from Ligos that messed up with my settings.

When I use Graphedit tool, I see all over Ligos as encoder although I useTMPGenc. Any comments on this one?

I do not mind paying anything e.g. buying any pricy resonable software in order to make it work.

Anyway, thanks for the help. I'll try your proposal tonight.

  6. I do not know what causes the trouble but I sorted it out.
I got a file from SONIC with TMPGenc settings that worked out for me as well. However, my standard TMPG settings, SONIC could not process either.
If someone who would like to receive this template, mail me and I 'll send it.
