I need help converting a file. i downloaded a movie, and when i go to properties it says that it is in mpeg layer 3. i tried to burn it using nero 5.5 but it won't let me. Is there any way to convert it to mpeg so that i can burn it using nero in vcd format. Or can i burn it in mpeg 3 format using another program. The goal is to play it on my pioneer dv-333 player. Any help would be greatly appreciated

mpeg3 is a mp3, your probably only looking at the audio portion.
DOES this movie play using asoftware player (WMP)?
What is the file extention avi or mpg ?We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked? -
i downloaded the movie off of a file sharing sight. it playes on media player and has a great picture. dvd quality. I just looked at properties and it said that the audio format was mpeg layer-3. My mistake. In properties, these say movie clip where normal movies say mpeg. The movie is approx 735 mb. Could it be that it is a dvd rip and that is why nero won't burn it. if so is there any way to convert that to a format that nero will burn. Thanks for your help

Your movie must be in avi format you never really answered that but try this guide http://www.vcdhelp.com/divxtovcd.htm.
It is the first guide under convert
Before you go and do this How long in minutes is your movie?

Ok
the movie that you already have how many minutes long is it?
There is no way of telling how long any downloaded movie is until you get it,unless it is listed in a profile box-like kazaa or Imesh use.We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked? -
Fist off what happened to the original movie in the begiing part of the post(that movie time sounds like its lord of the rings.)
If it is lord of the rings it can get a little confusing I sugget you start with an easier conversion.
What i think you should do with this movie 137 and 135 minutes long is join them first then divide them into 80 minutes long each which means you will have to use 4 discs. We were all NEWBIES once and the only stupid question is the one that's not asked? -
starting with an easier one. i have a movie that is 58 minutes. it says it is in divx format. what is the easiest way to convert it to vcd. thanks
