Has anyone noticed this on models of Super vhs and D-vhs from JVC decks?
The ''sharp'' option should be the better option, isn't? but ''edit'' leaves more details clearly.

The purists here will say no.....but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The sharp option has a lot of noise reduction active (possibly even more than the auto option but not sure) which tends to smear out detail, while edit turns most of that off giving a more raw image.

"Edit" turns off picture processing (except TBC/DNR), It was designed to copy or edit VHS tapes to minimize the generational loss, With it, little to no alteration to the original signal is done, in other words when turned on the output signal is as close to the original signal recorded on tape as possible. I personally use it most of the time, Picture enhancement is better done in software at a lower frame rate processing.

NORM/AUTO = base level of NR filtering in use, ideal for most tape playback
EDIT = off ..... and that somewhat defeats the purpose of getting the nice VCR, aka don't do that unless needed
SHARP = primitive sharpening, don't do it, use Avisynth post-capture
SOFT = never use thisWant my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)
