When i right click on a file name in Firefox and do a search google for it brings me to the google.com site

Is this behavior just with FF or does it happen with other browsers also?

  5. I think it automatically redirects to your country Google portal. Try typing "about:config" in the URL bar, accept the warning and search for "Google". Make sure the correct country code is shown. You can try changing the search name defaults, I haven't tried it but it might work.

Did you change your search provider to google.ca after adding it? Adding it via the link I gave just adds google.ca to the list of search providers.

go to google.com - click settings in bottom right corner - click search settings - go down to region settings - choose your country -
    click save.
