no image...virtualdub

hi, :D this is my first time using the forum help...and my first time trying to burn a vcd...my problem is...I dont see any picture when I am enconding or any thing using virtualdub and source rage...is it supost to show a image movie a while we are seting up to cut or extracting audio? than when I burn, just sounds and no image.... thanks for any help! :P
